This weekend, 08/09th of May, the first Tourstop of the International Boardbattle Tour was held in Nethen /GER.

The Beachclub Nethen is in the very northern part of Germany and has an impressive rurality because it´s a real Beachclub. Sandbeach wherever you look. Several Beachvolleyball and Beachsoccer courts, many beachchairs and a five corner Rixen cableway. One Dragon slider, three kickers, one A-frame, a 20 m long small table and one wall.

All obstacles are made by Obstixx, which is one of the mainsponsors of the competition. It was clear, that not only the competitors were high class, but the obstacles too.

The timetable of the contest was very clear and without any kind of pressure. Training on Friday and Saturday morning as well as freeriding during the contest. Qualifications and LCQ´s on Saturday and Finals on Sunday. This was very popular with the competitors, because on friday everybody was invited to the "Cube Club" for a erm.. let´s call it a little party ;-)

Saturday Qualifications and LCQ´s

After a very good breakfast the Qualifications and the LCQ´s were held. The high level of this comp showed at the Open Men´s starting list in the LCQ´s. Riders like Steffen Vollert, Mike Hilgers, Benny Sae-Chong and Raphael Bernegger had to challange each other to get through to the finals.

MC Clint Liddy said it right. The Judges wanted to see creativity from the riders. This suggestion followed New Schnitzel´s Rider Steffen Vollert first, started his run with a Ollie on the rainbow, cutting towards the kicker for a 720 and at the end of his run he made some tick-tock from left to right over the long table. With a impressive first run, David Bittner made it to the second place. He wanted to go bigger in his second, but unfortunately he wasn´t able to. Above all, and winner of the first Tourstop: Freddy von Osten.

At the Open Ladies, Cosima Giemza was able to battle Sophia Maria Reimers a little bit. With two good runs at the Qualifications, she was able to be first. But in the Final, Sophia Maria Reimers gave 110 % and claimed the podium.

Only a couple of days before the comp, a press release was published, that the Masters will get their own Category. Within this short time, four Master Riders joined the competition. Jobe/Jstar Teamriders Andy Böttcher and me, furthermore Stephan Flamm and the Local Klaus Winter. With two solid runs, Andy Böttcher remarked his last year´s constance and became first. To fulfill the dominance of the Jobe/Jstar Riders in this class, I was able to land a couple of nice tricks as well. In third place was Stephan Flamm and Klaus Winter finished his first contest in the fouth place.

The Junior Men Final was dominated by the Dutch riders. At least it was Rocco van Straten who held up the Dutch flag the highest. Nico Kasper was able to set a mark at the Boys Final. This day, he was a class of his own.

So far the first impressions of the contest. I´m sure, if the weather was better, more audience would have shown up. But I´d like to thank the sponsors of this contest: Monster Energy Drink, Mystic, Tigé, Obstixx, Neverride, Slingshot for this fantastic weekend!!
